Tazama is an open-source software solution that provides robust, real-time fraud detection and prevention. Version 2.0 was launched in February 2024, through support from The Linux Foundation Charities (LF Charities) and backing from The Gates Foundation. Tazama leverages community collaboration and cutting-edge technology to offer a global approach to financial monitoring and compliance — at no software cost and limited implementation fees– dedicated to transaction monitoring, with a focus on emerging markets where fraud runs rampant due to the lack of safe, secure digital tools to execute financial transactions.

Tazama challenges the status quo by offering a scalable and cost-effective alternative to financial monitoring that democratizes access to advanced technologies that can prevent fraud before it happens safely, securely, and cost-effectively.
Linux Foundation charities and The Gates Foundation believe in Tazama’s product architecture — that it prioritizes financial inclusion, data sovereignty, privacy, openness, and expediency – and aligns with the interests of governments and other interested parties globally. In September 2024, Tazama was included in the registry as a Digital Public Good by the prestigious Digital Public Good Alliance.
